The 2023 medical mission trip took us to Lipova, Romania. In total, 1,220 patients were seen by the medical team. This included 38 patients and staff seen at a psychiatric facility in a village nearby.
This year, doctor Gabe Jacob (ophthalmologist) and his wife Joana along with their 2 kids joined our team. He brought two awesome technologies that we never had before: one is a camera that took pictures of the back of people’s eyes (the retina) and another was an Icare tonometer used to measure the pressure inside one's eyes (glaucoma).
In total, over 1,500 pairs of prescription glasses, 1,200 cases, 700 pairs of sunglasses, 300 New Testaments, and hundreds of artificial tears and allergy drops were distributed to patients throughout the mission trip. These patients were not only blessed with improved vision but also experienced the warmth of Christian love and compassion. Beyond the immediate impact on individuals, the mission trip also served to raise awareness about the importance of eye health and fostered a sense of community involvement. By coming together to provide these crucial services, the mission team left a lasting impression on the local community. This mission served as a beacon of light, not only restoring physical sight but also offering spiritual clarity and hope to those in need.
